Terms of use

These are the terms on which you may use this website. They are about the website itself. They are not the contract for using the Vet Amica application — a practice signs a separate agreement for that before anything real is handled.

Who we are

This website is operated by Vet Amica Limited, registered in Guernsey under company number 78711, whose registered office is at Les Echelons, The Strand, St Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 1NN. You can reach us at hello@vetamica.co.uk.

By using this site, you accept these terms

If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page at the moment you visit is the one that applies.

This site is information about a product, not veterinary advice

This is the important one, so it is near the top rather than buried.

• Nothing on this website is veterinary advice about any individual animal. It describes what a piece of software does. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a second opinion, and it must not be used as one.
• If you are worried about an animal, contact your veterinary practice. If it is urgent, contact them or an out-of-hours service straight away rather than reading anything here.
• The example reports, results, sheets and animals shown on this site are fictional. They are made up for demonstration and are not real patients, real owners or real results.
• Clinical judgement stays with the treating veterinary surgeon. Vet Amica produces a draft that a veterinary surgeon reads, edits and approves before an owner sees it. Nothing on this site suggests otherwise, and nothing on it replaces that judgement.

What is on this page is not an offer

Descriptions of features, timings and prices on this site are there to tell you what we are building. They may change, and they do not form a contract. Anything we tell you about cost before we open is an indication, not a quotation. A binding agreement only exists once it is written down and signed by both of us.

Emailing us does not sign you up to anything, does not commit you to buying anything, and does not reserve you a place.

What you may and may not do

You are welcome to read this site, print it, and share it with colleagues.

Please do not:

• copy the wording, the condition sheets, the design or the artwork to use as your own, or in another product;
• present the example sheets as though they were your own practice’s material, or as though they described a real animal;
• attempt to gain access to any part of the site, or any system behind it, that is not openly available;
• interfere with the site, introduce anything malicious, or place an unreasonable load on it;
• scrape or harvest the site’s content for a commercial purpose, including for training a machine learning model, without asking us first.

What belongs to whom

The Vet Amica name, the logo, the wording of this site, the design and the condition sheets belong to Vet Amica Limited and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Using the site does not give you any rights over them.

The condition sheets are licensed to a practice for use with their own clients as part of using Vet Amica. They are not sold, and that licence does not extend to publishing them elsewhere or passing them to another practice.

Links to other websites

Where we link somewhere else, it is because we thought it would be useful. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

We cannot promise the site is always available

We try to keep it up and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, and we may change or withdraw any part of it without notice.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.

If you are using the site for business purposes — which most readers of this site are — we are not liable to you for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website.

If you are a consumer — a pet owner reading about what your practice might send you, for instance — you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect, and nothing here takes them away. We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, but not for anything unforeseeable.

To be plain about what this means: this website tells you about a product. Decisions about an animal are made by a veterinary surgeon who has seen it, and we are not responsible for clinical decisions taken by anyone on the strength of a marketing page.

Your information

How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy notice. In short: this site sets no cookies and tracks nothing, and if you email us we use your message to reply to you.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also bring proceedings where you live.
